Dean DeBlois, writer and director of “How to Train Your Dragon 2,” revealed that a third movie installment is on its way. DeBlois also gave a little spoiler on what to expect in the third act of Hiccup and his dragon BFF, Toothless.
A report from USAToday said DeBlois gave a little preview on what will happen in the final Dragon film. In “How to Train Your Dragon 2,” we saw how Hiccup and Toothless met. They also taught the village of Vikings how to co-exist with the dragons. Eventually, they became best of friends. However, they went their separate ways when Toothless was possessed by an alpha dragon. This led him to kill Hiccup’s dad and somewhat ended the friendship they have established. However, they were reunited and became the chief of their own tribes, said DeBlois.
For the third and last Dragon film, DeBlois said that the story will focus on the maturation of the characters. It would also feature a full grown Hiccup who can already stand on his own. The report from USAToday said the author of the book, Cressida Cowell, has always had the ambition of getting dragons disappeared and have the story cloaked in mystery of what eventually happened to the creatures.
[Spoiler Alert!] Yes, you read that right! The dragons in “How to Train Your Dragon 3” will have to leave. DeBlois confirmed that the movie will have to end in an emotional yet satisfying way. He also added that the ending would be in line to the first lines of the Cowell’s book saying Hiccup reflected at the time when there were still dragons.
Brace yourselves and get some tissue ready for “How to Train Your Dragon 3” slated for release in Summer of 2018.
