Puritans of the deep space film “Star Trek” will be thrilled to know that the latest installment of the recreated franchise will remain loyal to its roots, as promised by the appointed director Robert Orci. Read on to learn more about the “Star Trek 3” update.
Everything is falling right where it should be. The next “Star Trek” film is already in the motions for production with Director Robert Orci, and they are ready to take on what the present would call the land of the unknown. Why is this so? It’s all due to the promise of the director that the movie will stay rooted to the franchises’ original plot.
Based on his podcast interview with Humans on Earth, he said that the film will be closer now more than ever to the original series characters. “They have set off on their five-year mission. So their adventure is going to be in deep space,” explained Director Orci enthusiastically, as published on International Business Times.
The director, who is also a co-writer of the film, elaborated that the first two installments are actually origin stories. They showed how the characters came to be into the series.
“In [‘Into Darkness’] they set out finally where the original series started. The first two films – especially the 2009 [‘Star Trek’] – was an origin story. It was about them coming together. So they weren’t the characters they were in the original series. They were growing into them and that continues on in the second movie,” added Orci in the International Business Times report.
With this promise on air, the USS Enterprise will be setting its beaming course over to deep space instead of having them pop in and out of San Francisco’s cityscape. Apparently, this enraged the fans in the first two installments.
According to International Business Times, majority of the fans were disappointed with the first two installments because it was mostly set on earth. The entirely familiar human environment brought down the excitement that they felt for the film because it is not what the show is all about. Originally, the series was meant for deep space exploration and not really human exploitation.
Checking out the TV series’ main intro: “Space… The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship, Enterprise. Its five-year mission is to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before!”
From that alone, the fans can only hope that the third installment of the movie will do their fandom justice. Screenwriters Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne will be joining Orci. The iconic space sequel also serves as his directorial debut into the big screen.
The expectation for the latest “Star Trek” installment is definitely so high, and it hopes to go where no man has ever gone before. It is set to land in theaters in 2016, just in time for the franchises’ 50th anniversary.
