Read on to know more about the details of this scoop.

The Sci-Fi genre has definitely taken over the big screens as of late with YA dystopia movies like “The Maze Runner,” and “Divergent.” Let’s also not forget the inclusion of superhero inclined sci-fi films with the Marvel Studios franchises. Of course, the most obvious of them all, the comeback of George Lucas’ “Star Wars” franchise and the reboot of its opposing medium, “Star Trek.” Although, the aforementioned movies seemed to have experience a smooth flow towards their production, the third installment of the “Star Trek” franchise did not. Still, when there’s a will there are ways even if J.J. Abrams’ initial successor Roberto Orci did not stay long enough to make the third film prosper towards filming, he was replaced by “Fast & Furious 6” director Justin Lin. Alas, Paramount has now set the date for its filming and it seems that they are adding Cranston into the mix to play the role of the villain, along with a few more characters that need filling up.

According to the report by Slash Film, “Star Trek 3” will be having a male villain and the studio is looking up the “Breaking Bad” actor to play the role. There were speculations that detailed his talk with Paramount about him joining the franchise. However, nothing is final as of the moment. Cranston has long been sought after for such villain roles, and it is all thanks to his acting splendor in the AMC original series. He was even sought out to play the seasoned but extremely cunning version of Lex Luthor in the upcoming “Batman V Superman” movie.

In addition to Cranston filling up the vacant villain role, ScreenRant.com reported that the production seeking for three more actresses to play as the “captain of a Federation ship, the President of the United Federation of Planets, and Bones’ ex-wife.”

The speculated filming schedule for “Star Trek 3” seems reasonable enough for the production to be completed in time for its July 8, 2016 release.
