“Star Trek” will now be moving on towards the pre-production stages of their 3rd film installment as previous writer/ producer Robert Orci takes on the directorial role whilst Simon Peggwill re-assume his acting role as Scotty. Read on to learn more about the latest update on “Star Trek 3.”
J. J. Abrams has been hopping from one galactic movie to another with the way he has previously directed the first two movies of the “Star Trek” franchise and then moving on to direct “Star Wars: Episode VII.” This time around, he takes a bow in the directorial position and passes it on to his co-writer and co-producer Robert “Bob” Orci.
According to Screen Rant, Simon Pegg made the galvanic announcement to BBC that he will be assuming his role as Scotty with Robert Orci will headline for the creation of the third “Star Trek” film. Paramount initially wanted someone who was not involved in any forms of the production of “Star Trek” because they wanted a fresh new comer to bring in something different to the franchise, but recent events seem to have unfolded otherwise.
The confirmation of the duo has brought about positive speculations towards the third film. It’s all because they have already experienced working together in Tom Cruise’s highly popular espionage movie franchise “Mission Impossible III” and we all know when cinematic history in Hollywood is concerned, good collaboration is headed straight into the production’s way.
It’s rather common to have an actor hail a behind-the-scenes person when they are very knowledgeable of that person’s capabilities. For Simon Pegg, he has really taken it to heart to recognize Orci’s visionary inputs and is confident that he will be able to bring in something that the previous two franchise has overlooked.
“Bob’s been there since the first Star Trek – by that I mean the 2009 one – so it seemed to make perfect sense that he comes in as a director on this one because he gets it. He was always the most Trekkie of all of those guys anyway. He’s always understood the story the best, so it’s great that he’s going to be involved in the writing and directing,” explained Pegg during his confirmation with BBC, which was posted on Cinemablend.
With further details added by Super Hero Hype, Patrick McKay and J. D. Payne will join as the new screenwriters, who are assigned to pen the adventures of the Enterprise. No further details have been really set for its release, but speculations suggest that it will be open to theaters in time for its 50th anniversary on 2016.
That sums up the latest scoop for the involvement of actor Simon Pegg and director Robert Orci for “Star Trek 3.” Continue to keep tabs on Movie News Guide (MNG) for the recent scoop in the entertainment scene.
