The Star Wars Episode 8 plot, according to Rian Johnson, will be set right after the where the previous film left off. For audiences, this means that the upcoming film will pick up right Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) encounter with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), reports Screen Rant. This would be the first that in the Star Wars franchise that there is no time gap between two installments.
Star Wars Episode 8 cast will be comprised of new and old members. Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher represent the original members of the Star Wars trilogy who will join the new film. Hamill will reprise his role as Luke Skywalker while Fisher will still play Princess Leia, roles that catapulted the two actors to stardom back in the 70s.
Joining the Star Wars Episode 8 cast are the new generation members of the franchise. Daisy Ridley portrays Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver plays Kylo Ren and Oscar Isaac plays Resistance X-wing pilot Poe Dameron.
Star Wars Episode 8 release date is scheduled next year on December 15, 2017.
