Star Wars: Episode 8 is set to open in theaters on Dec.15, 2017. Before the scheduled release, some media fraternity witnessed a small footage from The Last Jedi recently at Cinema Con.

Many reporters took to Twitter to share their reactions to what they have seen. Most of them have said in their tweet that they have seen in the clip Rey swinging a lightsaber. Read to know more.

Here’s Why Rey Is Using A Lightsaber

Slash Film’s Peter Sciretta reveals in his tweet that “Just saw a short glimpse of Star Wars: The Last Jedi footage in a sizzle reel.” He continues, “Rey holding the lightsaber ignited, and her moving the rocks.”

It is clear from the footage that Rey is using her lightsaber for some purpose. The purpose might be that she is taking training from Luke Skywalker to defeat Kylo Ren. The lightsaber she is using is seen ignited and she is also moving rocks. This might mean that she is doing this with the help of force. A similar scene has been witnessed in Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Here Luke did the same thing during his training with Yoda, reports Express UK.

The Place Of Jedi Training

Many reporters who have attended the event did not mention the place where Rey was swinging her lightsaber. But speculations are rife that this can be the planet of Ahch-To. The scene lasted only for split seconds and one of the reporters has been quick enough to identify the color of Rey’s lightsaber.

Jim Vejvoda tweets “Only split seconds but Rey turns toward camera & swings lit blue lightsaber. Appears to be same place/costume as end of TFA #CinemaCon2017” as reported by Metro.

Last time when Rey is seen with a lightsaber is, at the end, moments of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She hands over the lightsaber to Luke Skywalker who seems to not know who is Rey. What happens next is something to look forward in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. And this is perhaps what fans will see –Rey with her lightsaber gearing up for the Jedi training.

Here’s What Star Wars Expert Knows

Mike Zeroh, a star wars expert, has revealed in one of his videos that the teaser trailer for Star Wars: Episode 8 shows two brief shots featuring Luke and Rey together.

Now with this new scene of Rey shown at the cinema con, it seems that the above mentioned leaked information might be true.

But the truth will be learned only when the teaser trailer is released at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Florida.
