Star Wars: Episode VIII is definitely one of the most awaited sequels ever. Following the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the sequel is going to take off from where the movie ended. This means fans might get to see a lot of classic Star Wars characters like Luke Skywalker in this one.
Though no official synopsis or storyline has been revealed yet, details including the cast update and what fans can expect to see in the movie have been discussed quite often.
Starting with the cast, all of the cast members from the previous movie are expected to return for this one. Filming for the movie has finished already. As it is getting edited currently, there will be so many worthwhile scenes involving the new principal characters that fans will get to see.
Since in the end of the previous movie Rey ended up meeting Luke Skywalker in an abandoned planet, fans can expect to see a lot of interactions between the both of them in the sequel. As far as Finn is concerned, a couple of months back, it was reported that compared to the first movie, Finn will be better trained and that John Boyega was beefing up for the part.
Poe Dameron, the star pilot, will be expected to be seen more. Rumors of his romantic involvement with Finn continue to circulate around. Since a classic character like Luke Skywalker will be present in the movie, another classic character like Han Solo was also talked about.
In a casting call, Harrison Ford’s name was accidentally revealed, which led to rumors that he will be seen in this movie, too. Since Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens killed him, chances are Han Solo will be seen in a flashback scene. If all the regular cast from the previous movie are returning, there are some new additions as well.
Benicio del Toro is one of them. He has been really quiet about his role. But rumors reveal that he will be playing a villain in the sequel. Other than this A-lister cameos can also be expected and some names like Tom Hardy, Prince William and Prince Harry are being thrown around for the part of stormtroopers.
Leading this cast is Indie films expert Rian Johnson, who has written and directed the movie. Even he has been really quiet about any detail related to the movie. But in an Instagram post a month ago, he did reveal that editing has begun. The name of the movie has also been speculated a lot. However, no official confirmation has been released yet.
CheatSheet reported that the sequel started shooting in February of this year and that the Rian Johnson helmed movie will see a 2017 release.
