Star Wars fans are impatiently waiting for “The Force Awakens,” and the media buzz is strong on the movie. There is a rumor that Disney and Lucas Film have already finalized the cast and are in the process of shooting “Star Wars: Episode VIII.” It is also claimed that Disney and Lucas Film intend to spend a whopping $4 billion on the franchise and release one “Star Wars” film annually to cash in on the investment. There is also a rumor that standalone “anthology” films will also be released intermittently in the coming years.

Both production houses are wasting no time in cashing in on the franchise as Episode VIII will quickly follow Episode VII into theatres. Episode VII is slated to be released in Dec. 2016, while Episode VIII will be released in May 2017.  It seems that they are obviously doing so to arouse fan frenzy and cash in on the attention Episode VII is getting from the media.

According to Variety, casting for “Star Wars: Episode VIII” has already been set in motion. It was also reported that Del Toro has been offered a villain role in the upcoming film. The deal has not been finalized yet and it hasn’t been revealed which character Del Toro will be playing in the movie.

If Del Toro’s addition will push through, he is set to join returning cast members from “Episode VII” including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac.
