As we are all aware by now, “Star Wars: Episode VII” has started filming. This came as a shocker for fans out there because we expected all along that filming starts in May 2014. But we are really happy that the movie is on production. When “Star Wars: Episode VII” started filming, we are also aware that not every role is officially filled, which means that there’s no official cast yet. Not this time, though because it looks like we’ve got an official cast on board who will play the role of Chewbacca! Yup, “Star Wars: Episode VII” got back Chewbacca! That’s a pretty BIG addition to the cast!

No, he’s not someone new because Peter Mayhew will play Chewbacca again. This makes him the first member of the original trilogy cast. We also have R2-D2 who would star in “Star Wars: Episode VII.”

Rumours started flying about Mayhew’s role as Chewbacca when he cancelled his appearance at a Texas fan convention Comicpalooza “due to filming.”

Mayhew played the role of Chewbacca in the original “Star Wars” trilogy.

The good news is that he is not the only returning cast member of the original “Star Wars” trilogy. Carrie Fisher will reprise her role as Princess Leia. Rumours about Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill returning as Han Solo and Luke Skywalker are still not confirmed but we’re really keeping our fingers crossed on this one.

Adam Driver (“Girls”) has also been confirmed to be the lead villain in “Star Wars: Episode VII.” Other stars such as Lupita Nyong’o and John Boyega are said to be in talks with Abrams for different lead roles.

The official cast of “Star Wars: Episode VII” are still under wraps but we’re hoping that they release them anytime soon. The anticipation is killing us!

May the force continue to be with the casting crew and may they pick the best stars for the lead roles of one epic movie trilogy.

J.J Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode VII” will hit theatres in December 2015.
