Ever since the release of “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens” in cinemas, a lot of fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming sequels of the film. Producer Kathleen Kennedy shared some valuable information on what’s to come in “Episode 8.”
According to the Evening Standard, “There will be a handful of new cast members in Episode VIII but also all the cast members you see here tonight will be in it as well,” she said. She didn’t specifically give out the names of the returning cast but this brought in speculations that Harrison Ford’s Han Solo will return in “Star Wars Episode VIII.”
Spoiler alert: For those who haven’t seen “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens” you might want to stop reading now. Han was killed by his own son Kylo Ren in Episode VII. Now, that Kennedy has confirmed that the current cast will return in “Star Wars Episode VIII,” this only means that fans will get to see Han again.
Will Han return just like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon? Just mere voices who talks to Luke Skywalker and guides him towards the way of the Force? Since Han and Luke have established a close friendship together, Han might still be there for Luke to guide him in the many galactic challenges that he has yet to face especially his own father, Darth Vader.
Kennedy also said that production for “Star Wars Episode VIII” will begin next month, “We’re excited to get back together. We start shooting Episode VIII in January, we’ve been prepping the movie for the last year and (writer-and-director) Rian Johnson has been doing an amazing job.”
“Star Wars Episode VIII” is set for release in May 2017 while Episode IX will be sometime in 2019.
