“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” absolutely lives to its hype and expectations of the fans and critics. It opened on an impressive mark on its premiere date and first week. Predictions now are suggesting it could not just be one of the typical blockbuster films to rake hundreds of millions worldwide. There is now the possibility it may even beat the record holder of the all-time highest grossing film.
According to Cinema Blend, the latest installment from the Star Wars franchise has already gathered approximately $250 M on its opening week. Also, Mr. Paul Dergarabedian from Rentrak claimed that the factors which can help the film are an international success and the positive domestic remarks. “Star Wars” has a strong fandom not just in the United States but also from different countries.
The movie is expected to have a higher earning as January hits the calendar because it will be the release month in China. The Chinese moviegoers can help it to reach the $2B mark of ticket sales. Only two films have managed to hit this record and these are Avatar and “Titanic.” “Avatar” posted $2.78B while “Titanic” has $2.18B; both are from James Cameron directing works.
In a report from Asia One, Disney released an official statement about the current success of Episode VII. “The industry is expecting amazing holds this upcoming weekend and through the holidays, and if that happens, ‘Avatar’ and its records may be the next thing to fall in the face of the power of the force,” they added.
