“Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens” has been making so much noise for the past couple of months especially when the movie franchise premiered. The movie brought in a lot of new characters and new story arcs that have shed a new light on the “Star Wars” saga. Once again, it didn’t disappoint fans. One of the most talked about new characters is Rey, played by Daisy Ridley.
According to Cosmic Book News, Ridley’s character has become an instant fan favourite since “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” aired. The actress did give a stellar performance but at the same time, her character has left many fans intrigued. Who is she, really?
Many fans thought that Rey is Kylo Ren’s sister, which would make her Han Solo and Princess Leia’s daughter. There was, of course, moments in the movie when Han did find Rey “familiar,” but there wasn’t a father-daughter connection at all. As for Leia, she is distant with Rey, which somehow clears things that Rey isn’t their daughter.
Inquistr reported that another theory claims that she might be Luke Skywalker’s daughter. However, we are all aware of Luke’s commitment to the Jedi order and the Force, which means that finding love is quite impossible for him. There’s a huge chance that Rey is not Luke’s daughter.
So, if that’s the case, how come Rey has all these amazing Jedi powers? Rey’s powers are very similar to Anakin’s, which brings us back to Anakin Skywalker, who later on became Darth Vader but prior to that he fathered the twins, Luke and Leia. It is a known fact that the “Star Wars” saga will ALWAYS revolve around the Skywalker family, which doesn’t take Rey off the equation that she is related to them.
There was a scene in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” when Ren tried to control Rey, but he couldn’t and he even offered to train her. Ren believes that Rey will be the one to help him finish what she started. WHAT? What did she start, anyway? Hold on, we’re getting to that!
Originally, Vader wanted Luke to come to the dark side with him and rule the galaxy as father and son, but Luke didn’t comply with his father’s wishes. So, we come down to Rey as NOT a new “Star Wars” character, and she is definitely NOT Han and Leia’s daughter nor Luke’s… but Anakin Skywalker herself.
Why, you ask? How is she, the only person in the galaxy to have the same powers as Anakin? Rey also gets a vision of darkness, anger, abandonment, etc. the same feelings Anakin felt when he was still a young boy.
And in that case, we are probably looking at Anakin Skywalker reborn in the form of Rey. If this is true, then, we are looking at a new “Star Wars” trilogy in which we could see probably a new Anakin, and if ever Rey is the new Anakin, will we see Anakin on the road to redemption?
