According to Entertainment Weekly (EW,) Abrams and Kennedy They used a collection of Toop trading cards in order to unveil the identities of the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." So far the revealed names are Poe Dameron, played by Oscar Isaac; Rey, Daisy Ridley’s character; John Boyega as Finn; BB-8, the ball droid featured in the trailer; and Kylo Ren, the sith featured in the trailer wielding a unique light saber. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is directed, written and produced by J. J. Abrams. He is joined by fellow "Star Wars" writer Lawrence Kasdan, the man who also co-wrote “The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" from a story by George Lucas. It is co-produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Bryan Burk, Walt Disney Pictures, Lucasfilm and Bad Robot Productions, to be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
Set approximately 30 years after the events of the previous film, “Return of the Jedi,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” revolves around a trio of new young leads, along with the characters from the previous installments. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Chong, Lupita Nyong’o, Crystal Clarke, Pip Anderson, Miltos Yerolemou, Greg Grunberg and Warwick Davis while Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker will reprise their roles from the classic trilogy as Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, C3PO, Chewbacca and R2-D2 respectively.
“Star Wars Episode VII” is set on the course for a Dec. 18, 2015 release date.
