Earlier, we have reported that Obi-Wan Kenobi may star in his very own spin-off from the “Star Wars” franchise, well there are recent developments to the story. According to Cinelinx, both studios are currently developing a film trilogy on the story of Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Master, who was played by actors Alec Guinness in the original trilogy and Ewan McGregor in the prequel trilogy. However, the site heavily stresses to treat all information as a pure rumor.

Moreover, Cinelinx’s anonymous source reports that the trilogy’s premise has already been mapped, where one film will be taking place in Tatooine, while the other two will see Obi-Wan spanning the galaxy. The three pics will take place between Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith and Episode 4: A New Hope.

Ewan Mcgregor, who played Obi-Wan in the prequel trilogy, and Liam Neeson, who played his mentor Qui-Gon Jinn has expressed their interest in returning for “Star Wars.” Gareth Edwards and Josh Trank are both attached to spin-off films to be produced and written by Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg.

Meanwhile, the upcoming 7th “Star Wars” film directed, written and produced by J.J. Abrams and co-produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Bryan Burk, co-written by Lawrence Kasdan from a story by George Lucas will hit the big screens on course for a December 2015 release date.

Set approximately 30 years after the events of “Return of the Jedi,” the plot revolves around a trio of new young leads, along with the characters from the previous installments. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford reprise their roles from the classic trilogy as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo respectively.  The ensemble will also feature the new casts including John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Chong, Miltos Yerolemou and Lupita Nyong’o. “Star Wars Episode VII” is currently shooting at Pinewood Studios in London and the deserts of Abu Dhabi in May 2014.
