It’s ‘Star Wars’ v ‘Warcraft’ As The Two Directors Wrangle In Epic Hilarious Twitter Battle!

You’ve gotta love the internet. While we were freaking over the new “Star Wars” trailer yesterday, “Episode VIII” director Rian Johnson had an epic twitter-war with “Warcraft” director Duncan Jones. Read On!

Duncan Jones has given us such epic and thought-provoking movies such as “Moon” and “Source Code.” Rian Johnson, on the other hand, debuted with the dazzling original Joseph Gordon Levitt vehicle “Brick” and directed the best “Breaking Bad” episode ever: “The Fly.” You would expect these would be the last two people to go absolutely, hilariously, all out warpath.

You would be wrong!

Duncan Jones just wanted to discuss the relative virtues of ‘shooting on film,’ but what he got instead was a tweetskreig with Johnson, and guaranteed the funniest thing you will read all day (via Film School Rejects).

Of course this titanic battle could not go too long without being noticed. And sure enough soon, other celebrities started coming out of the woodworks:

Fans of course, were rapt with enjoyment at  the fight:

And of course, which totally insane celebrity twitter fight, completed without an appearance from Gerard Depardieu.

But being the gentlemen that they are, Jones and Johnson ended their fight with amicably (we like to think by doffing outsized hats at each other).

And that was the end of that fight. For more brilliance from these two directors, you will have to wait for Jones’ “Warcraft” which swing into theaters on June 10, 2016. Johnson, meanwhile, will be directing “Star Wars: Episode VIII” which is scheduled to release almost a year later on March 23, 2017.
