“If I Stay Review:

As of this writing, the critics from Rotten Tomatoes have given the film with a 57 percent rating, while 95 percent of the moviegoers would like to see it.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Jon Frosch mentioned in his review how Chloe Grace Moretz does not seem to be appropriate for the role.

“It’s easy to see why Chloe Grace Moretz wanted to be in If I Stay — it’s an adaptation of a hit YA book, she’s rapidly a rising star and the role is her first full-fledged romantic lead. But a few minutes into the drippy teen love-and-death story, you’ll likely wish she hadn’t,” said Frosch in The Hollywood Reporter.

Meanwhile, Justin Chang of Variety was not that moved with the emotions being portrayed onscreen.

“The overall execution is so pedestrian that it’s possible to feel more moved by the filmmakers’ good intentions than by the actual emotional content onscreen,” wrote Chang in Variety.
