“Atonement” star Keira Knightley reenacts Meg Ryan’s classic steamy scene in the 1989 movie “When Harry Met Sally” for Episode 3 of Vanity Fair’s talked about short film. Read on to know more about Knightley’s hot and heavy scene.
The 29-year-old actress, with her hair slicked back, looked posh wearing a dazzling bejeweled top, pair diamond earrings, red lips in the featured clip. MailOnline noted that Knightley took the iconic scene to another level and went beyond Ryan’s performance when she shrieked with hands white knuckling the countertop. Unlike the original scene, Knightley’s shot did not show her dinner date, and she suddenly stopped after her performance, as if nothing happened. In the clip’s catchy punchline, “I’ll have what she’s having,” Judi Dench delivered it flawlessly. Watch Knightley cheeky take on the iconic scene here. Shot by Jason Bell, the British-invasion-themed clips were part of Vanity Fair’s annual “Hollywood Issue.” In their 2015 issue, the magazine features iconic British actors portraying famous American movie characters and reenacts their best scenes.
“I didn’t know which bit Keira would do. She kind of laughed and said, it’s the orgasm we’ve got to do,” Bell told Vanity Fair.
Aside from Knightley’s hot performance and Dench’s punchline, “The Imitation Game” star Benedict Cumberbatch also took part in the video teasing the viewers while stripping off his shirt. “The Avengers” actor Tom Hiddleston and Felicity Jones also appear in the video doing their best “Bonnie and Clyde” scene, while “Game of Thrones” actor Richard Madden portrays Clark in “Gone with the Wind.” “Downton Abbey’s” Michelle Dockery delivered Lauren Bacall’s famous line from “To Have and Have Not.” Emily Blunt and Eddie Redmayne also appeared in the three-minute video ending with James Corden’s hilarious line “Batman, played by a Brit. Superman, played by a Brit. Spiderman, played by a Brit,” he says.
“Even Abraham Lincoln was played by a Brit,” says the “Into the Woods” star.
The Hollywood’s British Invasion campaign has three parts: “Preparing for War” being the first, “Coming to America” is next and the last part is “Victory is Assured“. Vanity Fair’s 2015 Hollywood issue was up for grabs on newsstands on February 5.
