Stephanie Sigman Joins “Narcos” Cast

Variety reported that Stephanie Sigman will appear in Netflix’s upcoming television drama “Narcos.” The 10-episode series. according to Deadline, is a true-to-life story about the rise of cocaine drug cartels around the world and the law enforcement’s efforts in battling them head-on. It will revolve around the Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar, the leader of the Medellin cartel, and it will focus on his criminal exploits as well as his life and death. Sigman will take on the role of Escobar’s mistress in the television series. She is best known for her role in “The Bridge” as well as in the Mexican film “Miss Bala,” where she portrayed the lead character.

Wagner Moura will appear alongside Stephanie Sigman in “Narcos,” portraying Pablo Escobar himself. Moura is best known for his role as Roberto Nascimento in the “Elite Squad” films and as Spider in “Elysium.” With his role in “Game of Thrones” as Prince Oberyn Martell still fresh in everyone’s mind, Pedro Pascal also joined the regular cast of “Narcos.” In the series, Pascal will play Javier Pena, a Mexican DEA agent who is sent to Columbia on a mission to track down and kill Escobar. Manolo Cardona will be part of the main cast as well, portraying Eduardo Mendoza, the idealistic but inexperienced chief of the National Prison System who was framed for Escobar’s escape from La Cathedral. Cardona was best known for his roles in “Reign” and “Covert Affairs.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gaumont International and series director Jose Padilha also enlisted fashion mode and actor Boyd Holbrook as a series regular. Holbrook is to portray Steve Murphy, another DEA agent sent to Columbia with Pascal’s character. He previously appeared in many films, including “Milk,” “The Reunion” and “the Host.”

Chris Broncato, Eric Newman, Jose Padilha and Carlo Bernard will serve as executive producers of “Narcos,” with Padilha directing the pilot episode. Writing credits also go to Broncato, Newman and Bernard. Casting of Wagner Moura, Stephanie Sigman and the rest are credited to Carla Hool and Carmen Cuba. As of yet, there is still no official release date for the television series, although it might be scheduled to air in the United States in 2015.
