Stephen Collins has admitted to sexual abuse of three underage girls. Read on for further details.

Stephen Collins has admitted to reports of sexually abusing young girls. In a statement published on People magazine, the actor said he inappropriately touched one girl and exposed his “bottom” to two girls between 1973 and 1994.

“Forty years ago, I did something terribly wrong that I deeply regret. I have been working to atone for it ever since,” said Collins on People magazine. The actor continued to explain that he has not done anything since his last incident in 1994.

Collins has lost roles in “Scandal” and “Ted 2” after an audiotape of his confession during a marriage counseling was released by TMZ in October. Collins said that the recording only described the events that happened 20, 32 and 40 years ago, which has resulted in assumptions about what he did than what actually happened. Although these women did not press charges against Collins, the actor explains, “I want people to know the truth.”

The 67-year-old actor said that he exposed himself twice when he was 25 years old to a pre-teen girl in 1973.

“When the girl and I were watching TV alone, I moved her hand in such a way that caused her to touch me inappropriately. It was a completely impulsive act, and it’s haunted me ever since to think of what I put her through,” the actor wrote.

Collins continues to explain that he has exposed himself to two more teenage girls — once in 1982 and the last in 1994.

What happened in 1994 caused Collins to seek help for his deviant behavior. He has been undergoing counseling and therapy for the past 20 years, which has definitely kept him from doing the same act to other girls. Collins further claims that since the last incident in 1994, he has “not had an impulse to act out in any such way.”

Collins also explains that 15 years later, he had an opportunity to ask for forgiveness from one of the women and that she was “extraordinarily gracious.” Collins explains that he has learned from therapy that being direct about these matters will only cause old wounds to open, which is why the actor did not approach the other two women.

Collins’ full statement will be published in the latest issue of People magazine on Friday.
