‘The Vampire Diaries’ Star Steven R. McQueen Might Leave to Become Nightwing on ‘Titans’

A lot has happened in Steven R. McQueen’s character in CW’s “Vampire Diaries.” It would seem that the actor will be leaving the world of the undead and enter the world of the heroics as the actor appears to be taking on the role of Nightwing for TNT. Read on to know more about the details of this scoop.

McQueen is one of the series regular in one of CW’s most popular TV shows to date. He plays the role of Jeremy Gilbert, the brother (who is biologically Elena’s cousin) of Elena Gilbert played by Nina Dobrev. His character has been through a lot in the series as he went from being a troubled kid to a renewed young adult who turned into a vampire that got killed and passed on as a ghost that got revived once more. The journey of his character is just a plethora of life and death and everything in between. However, as his character appears to be one of the most beaten up characters in the series, looks like it’s time for him to get a real, fresh start at life. “The Vampire Diaries” may have been renewed for another season but it appears Jeremy Gilbert’s part of the narrative is finally coming to an end.

According to Comicbook.com, the showrunners indicated that the show is closing in on its “final act of storytelling.” It was despite the fact that they are being renewed for another season. Perhaps a great shift in the show would take place, but Steven R. McQueen’s Jeremy Gilbert will now be bowing out of the show. This then led fans to begin speculating that McQueen could be up for a different kind of role – a superhero kind. He’s either gearing up to land or suit up for the role of Nightwing in TNT’s “Titans.”

Moreover, TVD’s executive producer Julie Plec also expressed her take on McQueen leaving the series. Her statement seems to supplement the speculations at hand. “He’ll always be welcome to join us for important events — unless [McQueen] finally gets his wish to play a superhero and he’s unavailable.”

“He’ll always be welcome to join us for important events—unless [McQueen] finally gets his wish to play a superhero and he’s unavailable.” Plec said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

As of late, TNT’s “Titans” tells the story of Dick Grayson as the strong-willed sidekick of Batman. He only wishes to step out of the big man’s shadows so that he could cast his own. Furthering his wishes, he ends up forming a superhero team out of his passion and dedication. According to Den of Geek, creator and producer Geoff Johns confirmed last year that the production for the show will start this year as they are aiming for a Fall premiere. But as for the actuality of Steven R. McQueen playing as the leader of the Titans, we shall find out soon enough when the camera starts rolling.

That concludes our update on Steven R. McQueen leaving “Vampire Diaries” to possibly star as Nightwing in “Titans.” Continue to visit Movie News Guide (MNG) for more updates in the entertainment world.
