In this episode, before “stitching” into the memories of Kirsten Clark’s (Emma Ishta) foster father, Ed Clark, the team raced against time to investigate the death of a teenager who seemingly died of a drug overdose. In the course of the investigation, the team gained a new teammate, and a surprising discovery was made about a very unexpected person, and more was learned about the woman who used to fulfill Kirsten’s part in the team. Read on to learn more about this episode.
Upon arriving home, after the events of the previous episode, Kirsten Clark (Emma Ishta) discovered that her roommate, Camille Engelson (Allison Scagliotti) wasn’t going to kick her out anymore. She also had cooked a lasagna dinner for her in order to apologize. However, she ignored it.
Back at the Stitchers program, Cameron (Kyle Harris) told Kirsten his concerns regarding the previous stitch. She had managed to touch an intangible object- a memory, which caused their network to crash. It was also because he was worried that what happened to Marta Rodriguez (Tiffany Hines) would happen to her.
Just as Kirsten was about to stitch into Ed Clark’s (Hugo Armstrong) memory, they were stopped by their boss, Maggie Baptiste (Salli Richardson-Whitfield). She instructed them to stitch Kirsten into the memory of a young woman named Lisa Keller (Briana Henry). She had just died of an overdose due to a new and dangerous drug on the streets first. She then told Kirsten that if they figured out where Lisa got the drugs fast enough, she would have enough time to figure out how her foster father had died.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles Police Detective Quincy Fisher (Damoun Dayoub) was instructed by his captain to stop obsessing over Kirsten’s file, and to concentrate on investigating the death of Lisa Keller. However, he immediately ran into problems. Their Medical Examiner was part of the Stitchers program and had given Lisa’s body to Maggie.
Kirsten, upon stitching into Lisa’s memory, found herself having to force herself to focus her vision. Lisa had been at a rave party, and as the drug she had taken was taking over fast. After calming herself down as she saw monster faces everywhere, she saw a man who liked he was in charge. Then, she saw Lisa trying to get a girl named Denise out of there.
Afterwards, Kirsten made Cameron bring her to the rave party venue. After apologizing awkwardly to him, and after discovering the name of the man they were looking for-Raff (Aaron Jaeger), they ran into Detective Fisher, but managed to get away without revealing anything.
Later that night, Kirsten, Cameron, Linus (Ritesh Rajan) and Camille came along to the rave. Kirsten used Lisa’s memory of the rave to blend in. They managed to find Denise, who was quickly pulled away by her boyfriend, Raff. They then followed them out, only to run into Detective Fisher who threatened to arrest them.
Because of this, Kirsten decided to reveal the Stitchers program to him, much to Maggie’s annoyance. Maggie then accidentally revealed that the program had paid for all of Camille’s graduate school expenses in order to spy on Kirsten. Kirsten then learned that they also had Camille force the academic suspension on her, but later forgave her. Meanwhile, Maggie, who revealed that she knew that Fisher was divorced, which was why he had gotten transferred to Los Angeles. She realized that she needed Fisher on the team. He was the only one who could arrest their suspects, and so that he could keep an eye out on them.
After stitching back into Lisa’s memory, Kirsten discovered where Raff kept the drugs and discovered that Lisa had dropped dead. It was after Raff forced her to take the drug, she asked him not to involve Denise in his business. It turned out that Lisa knew Denise from a runaway teen program she had worked for. Thanks to this, Fisher arrested Raff and the rest of the team rescued Denise.
Back at the laboratory, a furious Kirsten confronted Maggie after learning that she couldn’t stitch into Ed’s brain anymore. However, Maggie reminded them of all the good they had done. He reassured her that she might find some answers in Ed’s things which were now hers.
Later that night, Cameron paid a visit to Marta in her hospital room. He also remembered how she had convulsed during a stitch, which caused her to become comatose.
