Shortly after “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” sets the stage for the rebranded DC Extended Universe, anti-hero group Suicide Squad will star in their own full-length movie. While the film is an all-out superhero film, fans may expect a little romance thrown into the mix. And the movie’s director even hints at a romantic triangle amongst three of the more prominent Suicide Squad members.
While most pop culture aficionados will be aware of the sort of twisted romance between Harley Quinn and The Joker (played by Margot Robbie and Jared Leto, respectively, in the movie), only hardcore DC Comics fans will know that a romance between Harley and Deadshot (played by Will Smith) have been explored in “The New 52” Universe. And it seems that this romance will be unravelled further in the 2016 feature film, “Suicide Squad.”
“Suicide Squad” director David Ayer told ComicBookMovie.com that the film will see Harley Quinn becoming her own person, separate from her life with The Joker. Will Smith adds that his character Deadshot will have a lot to do about Harley’s transformation into a more independent character.
“Harley is the biggest troublemaker, but Deadshot’s actually eyeballing her a little bit. There’s a pretty ragged romantic triangle there,” Smith shares.
Ah, this smells like trouble in Belle Reve paradise. Harley Quinn being with another man might not sit well with The Joker. And knowing the popular DC villain, things are expected to turn a little bit ugly. How will Deadshot react then, knowing his character was already well on his way to turning over a new leaf before his “big career score” went horribly wrong?
Find out the answers to all these questions when “Suicide Squad” rolls out to theatres on August 5, 2016.
