Fans of Suicide Squad disagree with the Rotten Tomatoes rating of the movie. One Abdullah Coldwater started a petition to shut down the aggregate website if they continue to give out unfair ratings.
As per Morning Ledger, the Will Smith movie was expected to pass critics’ reviews because a review by Rolling Stone says that it is anything but super. However, Hollywood Reporter’s review yielded a contradiction. It says that David Ayer’s film is a “puzzlingly confused undertaking that never becomes as cool as it thinks it is.”
Currently, the movie has just 35% in Rotten Tomatoes. This also ranked Suicide Squad as the second-lowest DC Extended Universe movie, which means it is just a little higher than Batman vs. Superman (27%).
To retaliate, DC fans pooled themselves to act against the low ratings for DC Extended Universe movies. The total signatories reached up to 5,000 initially and have reached 7,000 at present. Their main message is that they disagree with the ratings.
The movie is about to be released in cinemas and the critics’ review has a tendency to affect viewership. The movie has a production budget of $175 million and is expected to earn $125 million on opening day.
Suicide Squad is about a team of dangerous incarcerated super villains with a top secret mission. Forbes says that Suicide Squad “merely trips on its own shoelaces and barely bothers to get back up.”
The review notes that the first act is made up of the same scene repeated several times. The first time Amanda Waller is seen explaining to the government that she wants to make a team of super villains is interesting. However, more repetitions, complete with introductions for the core players becomes an unintentional comedy.
Will the DC fans that petitioned have sent their message across? Watch out till Suicide Squad fully saturates all theaters worldwide.
