Another iconic comic book character has now landed in a brand new role beside Kara El-Zor in CBS’ new series entitled “Supergirl.” Mehcad Brooks is set to portray Jimmy Olsen. Read on to learn more about this scoop.

According to TV Line, Mehcad Brooks will play the role of Jimmy Olsen. Jimmy is described as a photographer working for the media company CatCo. Moreover, it has been reported that Jimmy has just recently moved to National City, and the reason why he moved there is a mystery waiting to be solved. Hopefully, more about this character’s incarnation in the series will be released in the future.

The incarnation of Jimmy’s character is quite different from the original Jimmy Olsen, a redheaded photographer who is Superman’s best friend. According to DC Comics, Olsen has been in various comic books featuring Superman, and he also has his own comic book.

Brooks will be joined by Melissa Benoist, who was just recently cast as Kara El-Zor, or Supergirl. As of this writing, the following characters are yet to be cast: Alex Danvers, Kara’s foster sister; Cat Grant, the founder of media company CatCo; Hank Henshaw, a CIA agent wary of Supergirl; and Winnslow “Wynn” Schott, the programmer and technical genius behind CatCo.

Brooks has appeared in various television shows in the past, and his credits include “Benched” (2014), “Necessary Roughness” (2011-2013), “True Blood” (2008-2010), “The Game” (2008) and “Desperate Housewives” (2005-2006).
