WARNING: This article may contain spoilers for the upcoming season of CBS’ “Supergirl”. Read on to learn more about Kara Zor-El and the foes that she will be facing.
Superheroes have never been more in season than now, as both the silver screen and the small screen are finally reviving comic book superheroes in many different shapes and forms. MARVEL, which is currently on the rise, has it’s MARVEL Cinematic Universe, and a television universe that runs simultaneously with it. Similarly, DC, who is just beginning to expand its small screen and big screen universes, now has hit television shows under its belt, such as “The Flash” and “Arrow,” and will soon add its first superheroine to its roster, as Superman’s cousing, Kara Zor-El or Supergirl, will be having her very own series.
Many fans of DC and of Supergirl have been eagerly waiting for this day to come, and the initial first look and trailer that have been released are well received.
Yesterday, as the first few episodes of the brand new fall television season began rolling out, CBS aired a brand new trailer of “Supergirl,” which highlights not only Kara’s powers, but also shows how many foes she will be facing this coming season.
The trailer shows Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, flying around the city and fighting foes using an array of varied powers- superhuman strength, flight, agility, laser beam vision and ice cold breath.
An array of different foes were also shown, as well as a sneak peek into the Department of Extra Normal Operations, a secret government agent that monitors alien activity on planet Earth.
While fans and viewers were being shown the Department of Extra Normal Operations, the audience was informed that there were several villains, “the worst of the worst,” that unfortunately managed to escape a Kryptonian prison ship.
Comic Book Resources also mentioned that it is worth noting that Peter Facinelli’s character, Maxwell Lord, was also shown in the video.
In the end, Kara was delighted to discover that she had two allies who would help her on her crusade for justice, as both Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) and Winslow “Winn” Schott (Jeremy Jordan) were both surprised to learn that they both knew her secret.
