Henry Cavill is hanging up his superhero cape to become an operative in Mission Impossible 6! The Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice actor will join Tom Cruise in the long-running action movie. This information he confirmed on Instagram with director Christopher McQuarrie. See their exchange below.
Ready, Set, Action
Whether Cavill will reprise his role as Clark Kent/Superman in the upcoming Justice League remains to be seen. However, while the fate of one of biggest heroes of DC Extended Universe is unknown, Cavill will make himself busy doing dangerous stunts with the crew of Mission Impossible.
On an Instagram post, McQuarrie announced Cavill’s involvement in the sixth installment. The director said, “Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you’re interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure.” He attached a photo of himself standing on a rocky river bank. Cavill jumped in on the comments and said, “I’m in.” In true MI fashion, McQuarrie ended the conversation by saying that Cavill’s social media account will self-destruct in five seconds.
Cavill will join Jeremy Renner and Rebecca Ferguson. They will reprise their roles in the franchise. McQuarrie, Cruise, J.J. Abrams, Don Granger and David and Dana Goldberg of Skydance Production will produce. The movie is set to be released on July 27, 2018.
New Superman and Justice League Future
By the end of Batman v Superman, Clark Kent was burried six feet under. However, some reported that they can see dirt rising from his grave which proves that the superhero is still alive. So far, he was not in any promotional photos and video for the ensemble movie so far. The actor nor Warner Bros. has confirmed whether the Son of Krypton is dead for real (likely not).
However, director Zack Snyder revealed that the character will play a huge part in Justice League. In an interview with Empire (via Polygon), the filmmaker admitted that Superman will play a huge part in the movie – whether he appears in it or not.
Many speculated that when the hero returns to the big screen, he will be significantly changed. If (or when) the character comes back to the land of the living, he will likely wear a black suit.
Meanwhile, inspired by Superman’s selfless act in Batman v Superman, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) will recruit Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman to form the Justice League. The metahumans will then work together to protect humans and the world from all sorts of evil. The movie will land on theaters on Mar. 3, 2017.
