There’s no doubt that the Man of Steel is arguably one of the most powerful beings in DC Universe—flight, super speed, super strength, invulnerability, x-ray vision and heat vision certainly make Clark Kent one of the most overly powered characters in DC, but the latest buzz on the last Kryptonian is an addition of an all new deadly power in his arsenal, and when we say deadly, we mean D-E-A-D-L-Y. Read on for more details on this story.
The latest buzz on the internet today is probably Clark Kent’s newest super power. Yup, you read that right, an all new super power. Debuting in the pages of Superman #38 by writer Geoff Johns and artist John Romita Jr., Superman displays his newest power dubbed the “super flare.” Check out the image here.
Dubbed by the Batman as the “super flare,” the ability is an evolved version of Superman’s heat vision (which focuses the energy out through his eyes). The new super power allows Superman to release energy from every cell in his body, all at once, resulting in a solar flare-like energy explosion that can incinerate everything within quarter mile radius.
Although powerful, Superman’s new power has a catch; it drains him of his powers. What it does is it completely drains his cells, leaving him temporarily without super powers. In theory, it would take at least a day for Clark’s cells to fully recharge.
Moreover, issue #38 will also debut an all-new Superman costume, which you can check out here. The final page of Superman #38 also gives a shocking twist on the Man of Steel’s mythos. So if you don’t want to be spoiled, LEAVE NOW. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Issue #38 brings the epic conclusion to the Superman and Ulysses fight, but the final pages of the book is a real shocker for everyone, as Clark reveals his secret identity to Jimmy Olsen (that’s right, Olsen), not Lois Lane. The New 52 continuity set up an all new mythos on Superman, with his marriage to Lane being dissolved and only Lana Lang knowing about Superman’s secret identity. Letting Jimmy know the secret sets up a whole new dynamic never before seen in the Superman franchise.
