“Supernatural” Season 9 Episode 20 “Bloodlines” aired on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. on The CW. Sam and Dean investigated about the shapeshifter and werewolf families in Chicago. Read on to find out more about the “Supernatural” recap of the said episode.
Previously on “Supernatural” (“Bloodlines” Season 9 Episode 20), Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) were called to investigate about the five monster families living in Chicago and running the city. Ennis (Lucien Laviscount) went out with his girlfriend in a fancy restaurant. They had no single idea that the restaurant had a VIP area for beasts. Just when he was about to propose, a thing with claws attacked the area, and this took his girlfriend’s life. From then on, Ennis vowed to hunt these creatures. Sam and Dean tried to warn Ennis not to get involved because there is no getting out.
Margo (Danielle Savre), a shapeshifter, was planning a war against the werewolves because she thinks that Julian (Sean Faris) killed her brother Sal (Bryce Johnson). Margo was already talking to the Djinn and ghouls to side with her. Margo’s dad called in his son David (Nathaniel Buzolic) to come home.
David had tried living as a human elsewhere. He survived by selling test exams. His being a shapeshifter was an advantage for him to survive. We have some kind of Romeo and Juliet affair here. David once had a relationship with Violet (Melissa Roxburgh). They were supposed to run away and live together but she did not show up. Apparently, through the flashback, Violet did come. Sal came too and threatened to kill her if she would proceed as planned. Sal wanted to keep their bloodlines pure. Margo told David that Violet’s father had arranged a union between his daughter and a guy from the werewolves in New York.
When our star-crossed lovers finally had the chance to meet and talk things through, a clawed creature showed up. The Winchesters and Ennis convened, and the clawed creature took Violet.
Sam and Dean discovered by using Violet’s phone that a man with a makeshift claws, somewhat like Edward Scissorhands, was trying to mess things up between the werewolves and shapeshifters. He wanted the two species to fight against each other. He wanted to avenge his son’s death because he was killed by an “animal.”
Meanwhile, Julian was talking to a djinn to get them on their side, while there was no getting back for Ennis. He also received a call from his supposedly dead father who told him that if he pursues hunting these monsters, they will hunt him back.
According to TV.com, this episode is a backdoor pilot which introduces the characters of the show’s spinoff “Supernatural: Bloodlines.”
