The teen family drama, Switched at Birth Season 5, will be the series finale. However, it is reportedly delayed by next year. Back in March this year, series creator Lizzy Weiss announced that the new season will be delayed.
Switched at Birth Season 5 will open with suspense, which was left in Season 4 finale wherein the girls were called back home after spending months in China. The opening episode of Season 5 is titled The Call. It will be shown on Freeform and it will open up the details of the same.
There looks like a possibility that John (D.W. Moffett) and his wife Kathryn (Lea Thompson) are getting divorced. And due to the urgency of the matter, they have called up the girls back home.
However, Moffett replied on his social media account that he will be there for the entire Switched at Birth Season 5. He mentioned nothing about the storyline though. He will also be directing an episode later, which is titled This Has to Do With Me.
Showrunner Lizzy Weiss noted that the series ending will leave audience in tears. It will be an emotional adieu to the fans that have been there in the journey right from 2011 when the series began airing. Switched at Birth has been away from its Season 4 finale since last October, as mentioned by Deadline.
Switched at Birth is based on the story of two teenagers who were switched at birth. The story is set in Kansas City wherein one grows up in an affluent family, while the other one is raised in a working class.
Switched at Birth Season 5 will premiere next year. It is speculated that the season will air either by New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2017, or the week after. However, Freeform is yet to announce an official premiere date for the series.
