Syfy has unveiled the latest trailer for “Ascension,” the miniseries that will be debuting on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 at 9:00 p.m. The show stars Tricia Helfer, Brian Van Holt, Brandon P. Bell, Andrea Roth, Tiffany Lonsdale, PJ Boudousque and Jacqueline Byers. Read on for more about the show.

Entertainment Weekly posted the exclusive new teaser to Syfy’s “Ascension” featuring Helfer, whose character described what Ascension is, reiterating that it was essential to humanity. Then, a man’s voice further described the ship and the mission, which he said would bring hope to mankind and their survival. A montage of images from the show was also in the teaser, featuring tense moments between several people, as well as little girl running away from something or someone.

The teaser doesn’t give away the plot too much, but it presented to viewers an idea about the look, design and feel of the show. It’s very retro and futuristic at the same time.

The teaser is also different from the one already showed to an audience during the Upfronts presentation last May.

“Ascension” takes place 50 years into the journey of the ship in space.  It’s actually the ship’s name and it was launched as a covert mission around 1963 by the U.S. government with hundreds of humans, in all ages and gender, aboard it. The voyage was estimated to take a century and the mission was to find a new planet to populate. But after 50 years, the journey seemed to go nowhere. Then things started to turn for the worst when a woman ended up being murdered on the ship. This made its passengers question what was truly the purpose of Ascension.  The mission was supposed to save humanity, but now that it has gone awry, who will be able to save the mission?

Created and written by “Smallville” scribe Philip Levens  “Ascension” will only be a six-episode series on Syfy, thus it is dubbed as a “limited event.” It has been awhile since Syfy has done any traditional miniseries, but the cable network hopes that this show will not be the last. Levens, by the way, will also be serving as showrunner and executive producer.

Catch “Ascension” when it premieres on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 at 9:00 p.m on Syfy and keep checking Movie News Guide (MNG) for the regular updates.
