SyFy is indeed expanding its programming, and is true to committing itself with a line-up which brings SyFy back to its roots, with the addition of a television series which will be airing in 2016 called “Hunters”. This is the latest addition of the channel to a line-up which now includes “12 Monkeys”, “The Expanse”, “The Magicians”, “Childhood’s End”, “Killjoys” and “Dark Matter”. And now, it seems like SyFy is continuing full steam ahead with this project as the show, which already has a series order, according to Deadline, is close to closing a deal with an actor who will be portraying the lead character of the series. Read on to learn more about “Hunters”, and its possible lead.

According to the official website of SyFy, “Hunters” , which will be airing in 2016, is based on the novel “Alien Hunters” by Whitley Streiber, and has already gotten an order for thirteen episodes for its first season.

The series follows a highly decorated Philadelphia cop, whose investigation into his wife’s mysterious disappearance leads him to discover a top-secret government organization whose sole purpose is to hunt other-worldly and alien terrorists.

According to an exclusive report on Deadline, the network is currently closing a deal with Australian actor Nathan Philipps, who is best known for his role as Jack Dobbs in the television series “The Bridge”, which starred actress Diane Krueger, to portray the main lead of the series, Flynn Carroll.

The article went on to describe Carroll as a detective and a former FBI agent who began suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which later on led to hallucinations due to the mysterious disappearance of his wife.

The official website of the show lists Gale Anne Hurd of “The Walking Dead” and “The Terminator Trilogy”, and Natalie Chaidez of “12 Monkeys” and “Heroes” as the executive producers of the show. Aside from being an executive producer, Chaidez will also pen the script for the series.
