Are you a fan of “Orphan Black” and “Lost Girl” ? SyFy and Space got another great series for you. The cable network teased its avid viewers with the announcement of the main cast members of “Killjoys.” The “intergalactic bounty” drama will premiere on both SyFy and Space in 2015. SyFy confirmed that Hannah John-Kamen (“The Hour”), Aaron Ashmore (“Warehouse 13”) and Luke Macfarlane (“Brothers & Sisters”) will headline the upcoming drama entitled “Killjoys.”
“Killjoys” follows three young bounty hunters who look for criminals along the Quad interplanetary system. Hannah John-Kamen will take on the role of Dutch. The gorgeous but definitely deadly woman heads the team as a top-level Killjoy. She was respected among the various classes who hides from her dark past. John-Kamen was known for her role as the star of musical “Viva Forever” in a London’s West End production.
John-Kamen’s co-stars include Aaron Ashmore and Luke MacFarlane. Ashmore will take on the role of the kindhearted John Jaqobis. Jaqobis is a Level 3 Killjoy who loved creating various machineries from scratch. MacFarlane, on the other hand, will play as D’avin, a former soldier. D’avin was so talented in militarycombat that he was one of the prized members of the “Killjoys.”
The casting news was announced by Space’s Senior Vice President for Independent Programming Corrie Coe. It was the latest update on the series after it was picked up for a 10-episodes freshman run on April 30, 2014.
“With its explosive action, smartly-drawn characters, and fun and provocative story-lines, ‘Killjoys’ has all the ingredients to make it the perfect complement to our expanding slate of quality science fiction drama series,” said Syfy President Dave Howe in the Comingsoon.net article.
The series is created by Michelle Lovretta (“Lost Girl” ). It is also executive produced by Lovretta, alongside Canadian producers David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg. The production will be headed by the Temple Street Productions, producers of the hit BBC America series, “Orphan Black.” It will mark as Fortiers and Schneeberg’s first TV project with a cable network from the U.S.
