A college event turned from fun to panic when an unidentified gunman started shooting during the night, apparently with T.I., Yo Gotti and Young Jeezy just finishing their performance for that night.

On Saturday, Feb. 28, rappers T.I., Yo Gotti and Young Jeezy were in the Label Nightclub to perform for the CIAA Weekend Takeover party, which apparently celebrates CIAA’s basketball tournament. It was later revealed through a tweet that aside from the three rappers, Diddy will also be performing later that night.

In a statement released by Capt. J.D. Thomas of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in USA Today, at around 7pm, shots were fired, resulting in two people getting injured among the audience. Fortunately, their wounds were not life-threatening and one managed to drive up to the hospital while the other was brought in by an ambulance.

There were conflicting reports on whether any of the performers for the night were onstage when the shooting happened. USA Today and some members of the audience stated that T.I., Yo Gotti and Young Jeezy were onstage, while Diddy is not yet up for the stage until 10pm. However, TMZ and police reports say that the three had already finished performing when the shooting happened. Young Jeezy and Yo Gotti were reportedly in the VIP section during that time.

Regarding the incident, Thomas said that investigation is still on-going, though they believe that it was a random shooting sparked by an argument. He also added, “[As] new information develops, it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.”

Label Nightclub also released a statement on their website, saying “… Officials at Label are cooperating with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department concerning their investigation of this matter. Tonight’s events at Label will take place as scheduled. It should be noted that there will continue to be very substantial security for all Label events during tournament weekend. And, Label remains fully committed to the safety and security of its patrons.”
