Taylor Swift In A New Painting Controversy
Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is back in the media attention but this time for all the wrong reason. It started with first stealing a piece of art, by using it without permission and secondly having not compensating it enough. The American singer-song writer most recently voiced her concerns regarding devaluation of artist’s caliber, especially singers. According to Swift, piracy is draining the music industry and measure should be taken to control them. While all the artist in the world should realize their worth and not be ashamed to ask for it. Well seems like she forgot artists also include painters and they require their fair share when we use their artistry.

According to Rolling Stone the birth of the controversy was when Swift used a fan made watercolor picture to be portrayed along with the lyrics of her song “I Know Places”. The owner of the picture, Ally Burguieres who asked to remove the picture, and which was eventually complied by Swift but not with a desired reply. It took repeated attempts for Burguieres to gain the compensation, which when was delivered was totally inappropriate. In addition to that Burguieres also alleges that Swift put up a covenant to donate the sum to a charitable institution.

As a result of it Burguieres out of frustration wrote an open letter to Swift’s representatives, where she got the much awaited media attention. However according to Swift’s representatives this is clearly an act of gaining media attention and additional money. Further the representative went on to deny any stipulation regarding donation of the money. This is not the first time Swift have gotten herself in to such controversy as according to BBC Swift most recently paid an undisclosed amount to a clothing company in US over a legal dispute. While US singer Jesse Braham alleged Swift of copying the words from his song, which were later cleared by the US District court Judge. Before that David Mueller who sued Swift for falsely accusing him of groping her. It remains to be seen how Swift clears the air surrounding Burguieres first as it is definitely not helping her image.
