Another no-ordinary celebrity Twitter war has erupted and this time it includes stars like Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry. All three of the biggest singers are throwing mud at each other. Any way, who’s at fault?
The Nicki Minaj-Taylor Swift then Katy Perry-Taylor Swift war is getting on the nerves of many social media users and has become one of the top clicks topic in different entertainment news sites. If you’ve been following the roller coaster ride issues of these three songstress, the said Twitter war began between Minaj and Swift.
As for the record, Minaj “Anaconda” music video held a live-streaming record until Swift’s “Bad Blood” was released in May and encompasses her booty video. In return, Swift music video was among the videos nominated in Video of the Year category, making her dominating VMA with nine nominations, unlike Minaj who only got three nominations, excluding the Video of the Year that she was eyeing for.
Frustrated over the outcome, the “Anaconda” singer and rapper sent out a string of tweeter post on her official account. She criticizes the Video Music Awards for not being nominated for Video of the Year, this led her to lay out some valid points in her posts, connecting it for not recognizing and appreciating talents of black women. She suggested that the cultural contributions of black women are often left behind and overlooked, proving it that the racism in the music industry has always been there and still an issue.
Minaj dropped her bomb by tweeting that when the other girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture, they get the nomination…if your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for Video of the Year. Though she did not state any name, Swift’s fans and the “Bad Blood” singer herself took it personally, assuming that it is a personal attack.
In return, Swift replied to Minaj claiming that she has done nothing but love and support the singer/rapper and it is unlike her to pit women against each other. “Maybe one of the men took your slot,” Swift added.
Confused (but some say she’s just playing innocent). Minaj says that it’s not Swift. “I love you just as much. But you should speak on this.”
Swift replied back inviting the latter on stage with her if ever she wins the award. On the other hand, this convo of Swift and Minaj did not escape to Perry’s hawked eye.
Remember, Swift latest no. 1 single was rumored to be indirectly dissing out Perry. Many nods their head on this, but the two singers did not clarify anything, and let the issue flow. But now, in Swift-Minaj issue, Perry decided to step in.
In Perry’s post, she pinpointed indirectly that she find it so ironic that the woman who pit women against other women argues about this as they use songs and videos that makes a massive vision out of taking down the women who have wronged her doesn’t exactly send that message.
As much as we want to understand what’s going on with these three top stars, it for you to judge who’s really at fault on this issue. Is it the “Bad Blood” singer Taylor Swift, the “Anaconda” singer Nicki-Minaj or the “Dark Horse” singer Katy Perry? Share your views in the comments below.
