While she is known for being so close with her fans, it’s pretty much a given that there are also times when Taylor Swift shares some personal events in her life. And the most recent one also happens to bear heart-breaking news: her mother, Andrea, was diagnosed of cancer.
On Thursday, April 9, Taylor Swift took to her Tumblr account to inform concerned fans and ask for support on recent news that she and her family received. In her post, Taylor said that she and her brother Austin convinced their mother Andrea last Christmas to have a medical check-up in case she has any unknown illnesses. And when the results came, they found out that Andrea has cancer.
Taylor opted not to give any further details regarding her mother’s condition. However, she wrote that the reason why she wanted to inform people about this was because she and her mom wanted people to remind their often busy parents to take the time to see a doctor for a check-up. “[It] could possibly lead to an early diagnosis and an easier battle… Or peace of mind in knowing that they’re healthy and there’s nothing to worry about.”
In conclusion to her message, Taylor informed her fans that her mother will not be coming to her upcoming shows, as she is currently working on her health problem. She then thanked her fans and prayed that should they follow their advice, her fans’ parents will be deemed okay.
Upon hearing the news of Taylor’s mother’s diagnosis, concerned fans and friends took to the social media to send their prayers and support for the Swift family. Some even started a hashtag, #PrayForMamaSwift, to give their support.
The Swift mother and daughter are known to be very close to each other. Taylor even wrote her 2008 song ‘The Best Day’ in dedication to her mother and their close relationship. The said song was part of Taylor’s second album ‘Fearless’.
Let us all pray and give support for the Swift family during these hard times.
