Earlier this year, Seth MacFarlane; the creator of the hit TV show ‘Family Guy’, announced a sequel to his well received 2012 comedy, ‘Ted’, through his twitter – which was soon followed by an official announcement by Universal Studios confirming the release date to be 3rd April, 2015.
A new announcement by Universal seems to have pushed that date back a little; all the way to the 26th of June, making Ted 2 a summer release. Seth MacFarlane could be the reason for this delay, since he’s currently working on ‘A Million Ways To Die In The West’; slated for a 30th May, 2014 release, in which he stars alongside Liam Neeson and Charlize Theron.
Considering that development on that film will end sometime next year, MacFarlane probably won’t be free for writing duties until the second quarter of 2014.
The delay could also simply be a business move considering the original Ted’s release, which was in the summer of 2012, but if it is exactly that, then it doesn’t seem like a very smart one as the next summer is full of much anticipated, blockbuster releases such as the Avengers sequel in May, the Assassin’s Creed film in June and Batman vs. Superman in July – alongside other releases such as Terminator 5, Jurassic World and Ant-Man littered throughout those three months.
Will the M-rated teddy bear survive the onslaught from these heavy-hitting movies with a June 26th, 2015 release? Sound off in the comments below.
