The frontrunner, if the buzz and rumors are to be believed, to the new “Spider-Man” movie is apparently Dylan O’Brien, the star of “Teen Wolf” and “The Maze Runner.” Since it has been confirmed that Andrew Garfield is no longer playing the part, several other young actors’ names have been cropping up to replace him.  But O’Brien, 23, recently spoke with Buzzfeed and confirmed that, in truth, he has no idea about “Spider-Man.”

“Professionally, I haven’t heard anything about it. I’ve only heard from, like, [rumors] online,” O’Brien said via Buzzfeed, reiterating that he has never actually auditioned for the role of Peter Parker. He added that his friends were pretty psyched to learn that he’s going to be The Webbed One, only to disappoint them when he told them that the rumors aren’t true.

Still, the actor isn’t closing any doors for a chance to play the role though, as he acknowledges that it’s a huge undertaking for any actor his age. Aside from Dylan O’Brien, Logan Lerman, the star of the “Percy Jackson” movies, is also rumored to be eyed for the lead role and Dylan admits that Logan is fantastic.

O’Brien, however, has already proven that he can turn a movie into a box office hit. In Sept. 2014, his movie “The Maze Runner” became a sleeper hit, earning $340 million worldwide.

Meantime, the actor has quite a busy schedule with his television series “Teen Wolf,” which is now heading into its fifth season on MTV. In fact, when Celebified interviewed him about working out a schedule to shoot both “Teen Wolf” and “Spider-Man” (should he get chosen, that is!), O’ Brien actually said that he doesn’t see how he’ll be able to squeeze the two projects together. You can watch the video below.

Studios Marvel and Sony, on the other hand, will be introducing the younger and fresher Peter Parker in the 2016 franchise of “Captain America: Civil War.” As reports have it, production for this film is going to take place in a few weeks’ time, so fans of the comic book hero are bound to learn who will really be playing the role of Spider-Man pretty soon.

Are you hoping it would be Dylan O’ Brien?
