Fans rejoice as the “Heroes in a Half Shell” are back in the upcoming action/sci-fi reboot of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” based on the franchise of the same title. The film stars Megan Fox, Johnny Knoxville, Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Alan Ritchson, Danny Woodburn, Tony Shalhoub, William Fichtner and Will Arnett. The film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman and is produced by Michael Bay, known for his films such as “Armageddon” (1998), “Pearl Harbor” (2001) and “Transformers” series (2007–present). In “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” New York has become home to crime and the corrupt as Shredder, portrayed by William Fichtner, and his evil ninja clan, the Foot Clan, has gained control of the city, from the police to the politicians and almost everything. As bleak as things may seem, Shredder’s plans are thwarted by four anthropomorphic turtles — brothers Leonardo, Raphael, Michael Angelo and Donatello — trained in the ancient arts of ninjutsu by their mentor and father figure, the ratlike, Splinter. April O’Neil, a news reporter, played by the beautiful Megan Fox, soon discovers the brothers’ identities and must now work with the turtles in order to save the city and foil Shredder’s diabolical plan.

- Eric Sacks or Shredder, the film’s main antagonist, is portrayed by William Fichtner.
- Leonardo, the eldest of the brothers and the team leader, is played by Pete Ploszek and is voice by Bad Grandpa and “Jackass” star Johnny Knowxville.
- Raphael, the hot-headed one, is played by Alan Ritchson.
- Donatello, the smartest among the group, is played by Jeremy Howard.
- Splinter, the wisest, is played by Danny Woodburn.
Other actors and actresses included in the film are comedienne Whoopi Goldberg who plays Bernadette Thompson, April’s Boss; Will Arnett as Vern Fenwick, April’s cameraman; Minae Noji as Karai, a ninja from the foot clan; and Abby Elliott as Taylor.
The film has begun shooting in April 2013 in New York City and has finished production on Aug. 6 of the same year, with additional filming occurring in between January and April of 2014. Expect a lot of “turtle power” and “cowabungas” to come your way, as the movie is set to hit the big screens on Aug. 8, 2014.
