Sony Pictures proudly presents the sequel to the blockbuster re-boot of the Marvel comic book hero, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” The film starts to swing by U.S. theatres on May 2, 2014. Read on find out more about “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ movie review including a brief synopsis of the film.
The film is drected by Mark Webb (“500 Days of Summer”, “The Amazing Spider-Man”) and written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner. Members of the ensemble cast include Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti and Sally Field.

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” follows the events of first “Amazing Spider-Man” reboot. It begins after the death of Gwen’s father and the imprisonment of The Lizard.
Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) continues to struggle with his simple life as a student, a responsible boyfriend to the lovable Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) and his role as the saviour of New York City.
This time, things will not be great for our friendly neighbor with the arrival of three villains,who are connected to Oscorp, to tip of the balance. He will meet his greatest battle yet as he is faced with Max Dillon/Electro (Jamie Foxx), his estranged friend Harry Osborn/Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan) and The Rhino (Paul Giamatti).
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” Movie Review:
Rotten Tomatoes gave “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” a certified “fresh” rating of 83% based on 12 reviews. The first film of the “Spider-Man” reboot series has proven to be a blockbuster hit in 2012 but, this time the sequel has received mixed reviews.
Oliver Lyttelton of The Playlist pointed out the problem with the film.
“[It] doesn’t just double down on what didn’t work in the first film, it manages to undo some of the good qualities of the original as well. The result is a film that kicks off the summer blockbuster season with a resounding thud,” said Lyttelton in The Playlist.
On the other hand, Hollywood Reporter’s Leslie Felperin praised the film for being a more emotionally-laden that the previous film.
“The plot gets itself tangled up in multiple villain strands, but in the main this installment is emotionally weightier and more satisfying than its predecessor,” said Felperin in The Hollywood Reporter article.
Meanwhile, IGN Movies’ Daniel Krupa only got good words of praise for the performances of the film’s cast members that can result for a great future for follow-ups and spin-offs.
“Ultimately, due to strong performances by Garfield, Stone, and DeHann, and some great action and sincere moments, Spider-Man is strong enough to survive. Just,” said Krupa in the IGN report.
