“The Americans” Season 3 Episode 2 “Baggage” will air on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at 10:00 p.m. on FX. Philip will have to wrap up a failed mission, while Elizabeth will proceed with wooing Paige’s good side. Surprise visits will also figure in the episode. Before we get into the details, here’s a quick recap of what happened in the premiere of Season 3 last week.
In “EST Men” (air date: Jan. 28, 2015), the Jennings’ new handler made his first appearance on the show. Gabriel (Frank Langella) had Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth (Keri Russell) over for dinner, and they discussed inducting Paige into the recruitment program. Philip was still against this and argued about it with Elizabeth.
Earlier in the episode, Elizabeth had an encounter with some FBI agents when she retrieved a list from a CIA informant. Unfortunately, the FBI got hold of the list and the bureau would be running some tests for fingerprints.
Oleg (Costa Ronin) tried and failed to help Nina (Annet Mahendru) with the charges against her in Russia. He was reminded by his superior that Nina had a relationship with FBI agent Stan (Noah Emmerich) and could still be in love with him. So, why help? Stan learned that Nina was being tried for treason. Oleg was seen stalking him.
Yousef (Rajul Khana) killed Annalise (Gillian Alexy) in a fit of rage, when she confessed that she was, in fact, spying on him. He strangled her. Philip was listening to them in another room and went to check the commotion. A shocked Yousef was assured by Philip that he will be taking care of disposing the body.
Spoiler Alert: “The Americans” Season 3 Episode 2 “Baggage” will air on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at 10:00 p.m. on FX.
In this upcoming episode, Philip and Elizabeth will have to deal with the aftermath of their mission with Annalise, who died in “EST Men.” The couple, who are still not on the same page with Paige’s case, will see more challenges, as Elizabeth will use her dying mother’s plight to connect with her daughter.
A defector from the Soviet Union named Zinaida will arrive in America, and she will be aided by Stan. There will be some danger involved, which will test how Stan will handle the situation.
Nina will finally make an appearance in this week’s episode, as she slowly gets used to her new life in the motherland. In her dark and pitiful living situation, someone will come to visit her.
The episode, written by Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg with Daniel Sackheim as director, will also feature its very first spy camera, as posted in the official Twitter account of the series.
