The Big Bang Theory Recap: The Expedition Approximation

The Big Bang Theory” Season 8 Episode 6 “The Expedition Approximation” aired on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at 8:00 p.m. on CBS. Raj and Sheldon tried to pursue another field, while Penny and Leonard consulted Bernadette and Howard on how they handle money issues. Read on to learn more about this episode.

Previously on “The Big Bang Theory” (“The Expedition Approximation”), Sheldon (Jim Parsons) is now into dark matter, and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) thought about joining a government-funded study in an abandoned salt mine expedition. Raj showed up in Sheldon’s office to brief him on what it would be like working in a mine — humid, dark, explosions within the distance; not to mention that they pee on buckets. To find out whether Raj and Sheldon could last such conditions, they went to the university’s steam tunnel, with Amy (Mayim Bialik) waiting for them outside. If things go wrong, Amy has to save Sheldon first and get back for Raj if there is still time.

Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) sold the car Leonard (Johnny Galecki) gave her. She said that it does nt make sense that she has two cars. She then handed the money to Leonard and said that they were even. This upset Leonard, but when Penny showed a cheesy photo of them with the car, Leonard somehow felt better. He came up with an idea to open a joint account. But then issues started to come out. Do you think Leonard feel insecure with Penny’s newfound independence? They dropped by at Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and Howard’s (Simon Helberg) to ask how they handle their finances. Bernadette earns more than Howard, and he insisted that the money Bernadette gives him is a stipend and not an allowance. They argued when Bernadette learned that Howard bought another Star Trek figurine. Penny and Leonard realized that they do not want to be like Bernadette and Howard, so they thought of spreading the money on the bed and do it there. Apparently, it was not Penny’s first time.

Raj told Sheldon about Hanna Montana. Then Sheldon ended up talking about how he was scared that he is going nowhere. Raj comforted his friend by talking about the Voyager, but rats showed up. Sheldon made his way up as fast as he can and left Raj in the tunnel. Back at the apartment, Sheldon had Amy transcribe his recording. Raj stormed in, but Sheldon shrugged it off by telling Amy that Raj continues to state the obvious.
