“The Big Bang Theory” season 9 will not air a couple of months from now, but fans are already speculating over what may happen following the ending of season 8. Last season, fans saw Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) heading over to their Las Vegas wedding. But rumor has it that the couple will be experiencing quite a lot of problems before their wedding takes place. Some fans even speculate that the wedding between Leonard and Penny may not take place at all.
Meanwhile, season 8 also saw the sudden breakup between Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons). Sheldon seemed like he was about to propose to Amy. It was then the latter suddenly asked that they breakup.
In an interview wit The Hollywood Reporter (THR), showrunner Steve Molaro shared more information about the breakup.
“They have been dating, this is the fifth anniversary of their first date and she can’t even get through a make-out session without him thinking about television, so I understand her frustration,” Molaro told THR.
Molaro also teased that this recent breakup between Sheldon and Amy is “an interesting place for them to be.” It might bring up some emotions that were once strange to Sheldon such as jealousy, perhaps?
Some fans noted that it would be interesting to see Sheldon get jealous when another man enters the picture and captures Amy’s attention. This time, Sheldon may realize that he needs to step up his game and fight to get Amy back into his arms.
