The CW unveils its new show “The World Dog Awards,” while NBC will air “American Ninja Warrior USA vs. The World.” Read on for more details about the story.
According to Deadline, The CW introduces its newest show “The World Dog Awards,” a two-hour show which will start airing on January 2015. The show will feature man’s best friend, celebrating them for their participation in entertainment, health services, the military, and the Internet. The a la Hollywood awards show will be shot at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar, where viewers will be voting for their favored nominee with matching edible trophies for winners. The show will also feature some of today’s biggest acts.
NBC will present its second annual international competition “American Ninja Warrior USA vs. The World” in a three-hour special. The fast-paced adrenaline-filled competition will feature the shows’ top five U.S. competitors, pitting them against contender teams coming from Japan and Europe in a high-stakes competition on the show’s famed four-stage finals course.
“American Ninja Warrior” is a sports entertainment competition spinoff of the Japanese television series “Sasuke,” which is airing for six seasons already. One hundred competitors must run through a challenging obstacle course to qualify and move to City Finals. The person to complete the course with the fastest time wins. Notable contestants are veteran athletes, athletes, actors, stuntmen, etc. The series is executively produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions’ founders Arthur Smith and Kent Weed
Representing Team USA are competitors Brian Arnold, Elet Hall, Paul Kasemir, Joe Moravsky and Travis Rosen. All of which have made it to the show’s Las Vegas finals in past seasons. They will be facing Team Japan’s Kazuma Asa, Hitoshi Kanno, Ryo Matachi, Shingo Yamamoto and Yusuke Morimoto — most of which are seasoned and up-and-coming athletes, with Yamamoto who has competed in every season of Japan’s “Sasuke.” Team Europe will be represented by Stefano Ghisolfi, Vadym Kuvakin, Sean McColl, Tim Sheiff and Miska Sutela. Ghisolfi and McColl are both champion rock climbers, with McColl winning the rock climbing World Cup in 2012, while Kuvakin is a former Olympian for the Ukraine in gymnastics and a current member of the Cirque du Soleil cast in Las Vegas. Sheiff, a successful competitor on several seasons of “American Ninja Warrior,” is a world champion free runner. The season is hosted by veteran commentators Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila with Jenn Brown as the sideline reporter.
The show will air on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 ,from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and a special encore presentation on the next night on NBCU sibling Esquire Network.
