The crime thriller starring Gillian Anderson (“Hannibal”) and Jamie Dornan (“Fifty Shades of Grey”), “The Fall,” is set to premiere its second season on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at 9:00 p.m on BBC Two. What do fans of the series have to expect from its return? Find out in the details below.
The second season of “The Fall” will begin 10 days after Paul Spector (Dornan) and DSI Stella Gibson (Anderson) have briefly eyeballed each other at the police precinct. It will open with the Spector family coming back from a short trip in Scotland, with Spector trying to fix loose ends. He will discover that someone he knows from his past will be in cahoots with the police, and this could lead to serious consequences.
If you recall, the first season ended with the last victim surviving Spector’s attack. Annie Brawley woke up from her hospital bed, and now, Gibson and the rest of the police will be trying to help her remember her attacker’s identity.
This season will also feature a new cop, Tom Anderson (Colin Morgan), to help with Gibson’s investigation and Spector’s unsuspecting wife, Sally Ann (Bronagh Waugh), may slowly find out about her husband’s secret identity as the serial killer.
As for DSI Gibson, Anderson says that her character will become emotionally invested in the case.
"In season one she reins in it, but in season two she definitely begins to get affected on other levels by what transpires," said Anderson in an interview with Belfast Telegraph.
"There are definitely some small reveals she gives and also we learn more about her in how she responds to situations. Anything that Stella is that we haven't seen yet is the result of the past and not present,” added the actress.
Dornan, on the other hand, addressed concerns that having him play the serial killer on “The Fall” has glamorized violence against women and has sexualized murderers. He disagreed with the accusations but pointed out that society has always had a level of allure with serial killers.
“These guys have so much confidence and self-belief that what they're doing is right, it's almost divine and they are untouchable,” said Dornan in the same interview.
