It looks like Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) did not enjoy his holiday break in the midseason premiere of The Flash Season 3. According to the synopsis released by The CW, the Scarlet Speedster of Central City is still worried about his vision of the future, and he is getting more frustrated that he cannot do anything about it. When Plunder (Stephen Huszar) showed up in the present, Barry is hesitant to catch him.

The Flash Season 3 – Love or Duty?

To recall, Plunder was the same criminal who would be in trial five months into the future. On the same night, he watched himself beg Savitar not to kill Iris (Candice Patton), but the villain ran his blade through her anyway. Then, Jay (Teddy Sears) yanked him back into the present.

The next episode, titled Borrowing Problems From The Future, will see Barry try to prevent the tragic future by not catching Plunder. Meanwhile, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) gives Julian (Tom Felton) a second chance. Here is the synopsis for The Flash Season 3 Episode 10:

Barry is extremely upset and tormented because of the vision of the future where he saw Iris being murdered by Savitar. Later when Plunder, a criminal appears in Central City, Barry remembers seeing him in his vision. However, he fears that if he catches Plunder, that will be the end of Iris. Wally is confused seeing Barry’s hesitation to stop Plunder, and hence makes up his mind to step in as Kid Flash. Meanwhile, the audience will see that Julian is offered a job by Caitlin.

Can Barry Save Iris in The Flash Season 3?

But, even if Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) eventually caught Plunder, it looks like there is still a way to change the future. Show executive producer, Andrew Kreisberg, revealed that Team Flash will learn more about the events that will lead to Iris’ death in the future. And they will try to prevent them from happening.

“[T]hey now have a list of things they know will occur between now and May,” Kreisberg told EW. “Their operating principle is can they stop enough of these things to change time?” He further added that the next few episodes will be a struggle to find out if they can in any way change the future. The Flash Season 3 Episode 10 will air on Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
