“The Flash” Season 3 brings Henry Allen back from the dead. Actor John Wesley Shipp confirmed he reprises the character and likewise teased a possible Jay Garrick cameo in the new season.

“The Flash” Season 3 will have the Allen family complete and intact. Not only will Nora be there—after Barry saves her in the “The Flash” Season 2 Finale—but Henry also returns alive and well. Actor John Wesley Shipp, who plays Henry Allen, told Entertainment Weekly that he is back for more adventure in the third season.

“ I’ve been given permission to say that yes, they have all kinds of exciting and interesting plans for me, that are interesting not only in the context of the storyline, but they continue to spin out, which will be very challenging for me as an actor. But yes, I will be back next season,” he said.

Shipp also discussed his brief appearance as the original Flash Jay Garrick, the Man in the Iron Mask, in the Season 2 Finale. He admitted that he felt nervous when he saw himself suited up as the superhero character he once portrayed 25 years ago. However, his nervousness died down when he was welcomed with applause from the crew and his fellow actors.

Jay Garrick may have briefly appeared in the show but Shipp teased viewers might see more of Jay in “The Flash” Season 3. Shipp told TV Line that the existence of Earth 3 puts Jay Garrick’s appearance into likelihood. He added that perhaps the new season will stick close to the comics when it comes to revealing the inhabitants of Earth 3, where Jay Garrick is originally from.

In the same interview with TV Line, Shipp also expressed his eagerness to return to the show either as Henry Allen or as Jay Garrick. However, he is more excited to return as Jay Garrick since show producer Greg Berlanti has some exciting plans for the character in the new season.

“In fact, Greg told me that one reason they were so excited about having me morph into Jay Garrick is that there are so many more ways that they could use me. I can’t wait to see what they are,” Shipp told TV Line.

“The Flash” Season 3” premieres on The CW this fall.
