Hours after Sony’s announcement on releasing the Seth Rogen-James Franco starrer “The Interview” on Christmas, exactly as previously planned, "The Interview’s" social media accounts have all been brought back up online. Sony, who has been lately attacked and received a “confirmed” threat from North Korea to cancel the release of the pic, has decided to go on with their plans after more than 200 theaters have signed on to screen the comedy. “We have never given up on releasing The Interview and we’re excited our movie will be in a [limited] number of theaters on Christmas Day. At the same time, we are continuing our efforts to secure more platforms and more theaters so that our movie reaches the largest possible audience,” said Chairman and CEO Michael Lynton in a statement, as published on Deadline.
Moreover, the film’s final teaser, which has been posted last Thursday but was quickly taken down, is now back on YouTube. Check it out below.
In “The Interview,” celebrity journalist David Skylark, played by Franco and his producer Aaron Rapoport, played by Rogen, of the tabloid TV show “Skylark Tonight” lands an interview with North Korea’s Supreme Leader, Kim Jong-Un, portrayed by Randall Park, discovering that the leader is a big fan of the show. In high hopes of scoring higher ratings, the duo books a ticket to Pyongyang, only to be intervened by the CIA, recruiting and instructing the partners for the assassination of the North Korean Leader. “The Interview” will be Franco and Rogen’s reunion since their appearance on the movies “Pineapple Express” and “This Is the End.”
“The Interview” is a film directed and written by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, co-written with Dan Sterling, set for a Christmas release.
