"The Legend of Korra” Season 4 Episode 6 “Enemy at the Gates” aired last Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, on the Nickelodeon website and on the Nickelodeon application. In this episode, Kuvira (Zelda Williams) used Bolin (P. J. Byrne). She wanted to get Suyin Beifong (Anne Heche) to surrender Zaofu  so the entire Earth Kingdom will be united under her rule. Meanwhile, Korra (Janet Varney) tried to avert a battle between Suyin and Kuvira, while Varrick (John Michael Higgins) and Bolin discovered the hard truth about Kuvira. Meanwhile, Asami Sato (Seychelle Gabriel) tried to come to terms with her relationship with her imprisoned father, Hiroshi Sato (Daniel Dae Kim). Read on to learn more about this episode.

As Kuvira and her army had arrived in front of Zaofu, Suyin Beifong (Anne Heche). Her people knew that they were going to be attacked soon, and even if they called for help, no one was able to respond in time. Inside their train, Kuvira and her fiancé, Batar Jr. (Todd Haberkorn), Suyin’s eldest son, discussed that it was vital to bring Bolin. They wanted to win over Su so that Zaofu would peacefully surrender by signing the treaty. If this happened, then the entire Earth Kingdom would finally be united under her. Instead of going back to Air Temple Island, Korra, Meelo (Logan Wells), Ikki (Darcy Rose Byrnes) and Jinora (Kiernan Shipka) went on their way to Zaofu in order to stop Kuvira and an imminent battle began. However, Korra surprised Meelo by telling him that she would try to talk and reason with Kuvira first before fighting her.

Inside the train, Varrick started to conduct his experiment on the spirit vines he had harvested from the vines growing in Republic City. His plan was to transform the pure energy that it gave out into a battery. However, they discovered  that the vine was too strong for them as it blasted the entire compartment open. Varrick then told Kuvira that he was going to “pull the plug” on the project. If the project fell into the wrong hands, the power might be abused. However, he was persuaded to continue working on the vines because Kuvira threatened to kill him. From that moment on, Varrick was placed under armed guard.

Meanwhile, Kuvira informed Bolin that he was now part of the “inner circle." He asked for his help in order to convince Su to sign the treaty to join the Earth Kingdom. Bolin agreed, as he believed that they were improving the Earth Kingdom. However, his pleas fell on deaf ears. He then became a little bit confused. He could not understand why Su and Kuvira were on opposing sides because he believed that both of them could work together to create a better future. However, Opal (Alyson Stoner), his girlfriend, told him that every time they left a town that had agreed to join the Earth Kingdom, the citizens were subject to slave labor, and dissenters were sent to an unknown location. Su then became angry that Kuvira just used Bolin to get to her and refused to join the Earth Kingdom. Because of this, Kuvira gave her 24 hours to surrender, or else, they would take Zaofu by force.

Back inside the train, Bolin discovered the “hard truth." The citizens were made to do things that Kuvira saw fit for them to do.  Those who went against her and her army were sent to reeducation camps. She was also not bluffing when she threatened to take Zaofu by force. Because of this, Bolin started to doubt his belief in Kuvira’s cause. However, as she threatened to send him to a reeducation camp, Bolin told her that he was loyal to her.

He could not anymore tolerate what Kuvira was doing. He managed to sneak into Varrick’s train, and together, he, Varrick and Zhu Li escaped and took a Mecha Tank each to protect themselves. Varrick and Zhu Li decided to return to Republic City to warn the world about Kuvira’s plan to weaponize the spirit vines. On the other hand, Bolin wanted to return to Zaofu to help them fight Kuvira. However, before they could decide what exactly to do, Batar Jr. and several other of Kuvira’s soldiers arrived and discovered that they had escaped. Throughout the battle, despite Zhu Li’s best efforts in protecting Varrick, she was defeated, and Varrick was captured by Batar Jr. This led Bolin to surrender himself.

Back on the train, Kuvira sentenced Zhu Li and Bolin to the reeducation camps. Varrick would remain under armed guard so that he could continue working on the spirit vines. However, Zhu Li surprised them all by pledging her allegiance to Kuvira, as all that Varrick did was to take her for granted.

While this happened, Korra arrived at Zaofu and talked with Su. She learned that when the Earth Queen fell, President Raiko and Tenzin asked her to take charge of the Earth Kingdom. They trusted her because the Beifong name still held a lot of weight in the Earth Kingdom. However, as she did not want to impose her ideals on anyone and she did not want to look like a brutal conqueror, she turned their offer down. This had caused a “rift” between her and Kuvira, who believed that Zaofu should take charge of the most modernized city in the Earth Kingdom. Because of this, Kuvira turned Batar Jr. against Su. She took several wealthy citizens, Varrick and her Security Force to Ba Sing Se, where she was able to restore order. As she was able to effectively bring order to the chaotic Earth Kingdom, Raiko and Tenzin asked her to become the provisional head. This came with the condition that she had to step down once the crown prince was crowned. She then told Korra to destroy Kuvira and her forces once and for all. However, Korra told her that fighting, in her experience, only made things worse, so she planned to reason out with her.

At Kuvira’s camp, Kuvira held her ground as Zaofu was the only state left before her dream of reuniting the entire kingdom was accomplished. However, she did agree to have a temporary truce in order to give Korra time to talk to Su. However, when she got there, she found out that Su had taken her twin sons. She also learned that they were going to attack Kuvira’s camp in order to end everything once and for all.

In Republic City, Asami Sato (Seychelle Gabriel) visited her imprisoned father, Hiroshi Sato (Daniel Dae Kim), in order to return the letters that he had sent her. While there, he told her that he was sorry for everything that he had done. He also informed her that he was very proud of her. As she could not contain her emotions, she ended up running out.

At Avatar Park, Asami teared up when she saw a young girl playing with her father. She then realized the reason why she had visited him. She wanted to say hurtful words to him so that he knew how hurt she had felt when she discovered that he was an Equalist. However, she told him that she would try to forgive him and asked him if he wanted to play Paisho with her, as they used to play that particular game before.
