“The Legend of Korra” Season 4 Episode 6 “The Battle of Zaofu” aired last Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, on the Nickelodeon website and application. In this episode, Avatar Korra (Janet Varney) fought with Kuvira (Zelda Williams) in a bid to free Suyin Beifong (Anne Heche) and her twin sons, as well as to stop Kuvira from attacking the city of Zaofu. Meanwhile, Varrick (John Michael Higgins) and Bolin (P.J. Byrne) were held as prisoners by Baatar Jr. (Todd Haberkorn) and Kuvira’s forces. They were forced to continue developing a super weapon for Kuvira. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode opened with Suyin Beifong (Anne Heche) and her twin sons Wing and Wei (Marcus Toji) sneaking into Kuvira’s (Zelda Williams) camp in order to capture her. However, they were captured first, as Kuvira had anticipated an attack of sort and captured Su and her sons.

Meanwhile, inside Su’s mansion, her daughter, Opal (Alyson Stoner), who was also an airbender, tried to convince Korra (Janet Varney) to help Su attack Kuvira. However, their conversation was cut short as Kuvira announced that she had captured Su and her sons and demanded that the representatives of Zaofu meet her at dawn in order to surrender to her. Opal, furious, told them that they should fight back, even if she had sworn an oath of non-aggression when she became an airbender. Korra then decided that Jinora (Kiernan Shipka) would accompany her at dawn in order to meet with Kuvira. She then instructed Batar Sr. to make sure that Meelo (Logan Wells) and Ikki (Darcy Rose Byrnes) would be safe and told him to send them back to their father if things got bad.

On the train bound for the reeducation camp, Baatar Jr. (Todd Haberkorn) forced Varrick (John Michael Higgins) to continue working on the spirit vines. As he had scared the guard who was supposed to act as his new assistant regarding the power of the vines, Bolin (P.J. Byrne) was forced to be Varrick’s assistant.

Outside Zaofu, Kuvira met up with Korra, Jinora and Opal and told them that she would release Su and her sons if Su bowed down to her and surrendered Zaofu. She then repeated the fact that Su attacked her while they were sill undergoing ‘peaceful’ negotiations and told Opal that Bolin was “on board with my plans.” She then told them that she wanted Zaofu as they had a lot of good resources that could be distributed and allocated equally throughout the kingdom, but Opal knew that all Kuvira wanted was power. As Kuvira’s threats did not work on Korra, and as the only way to stop her was to defeat her in a fight, Korra agreed to fight with Kuvira on the terms that if she won, Kuvira would have to surrender to her. If Kuvira won, Korra would stay out of Kuvira’s way.

Meanwhile, on the train, Varrick revealed that he wanted to work on the spirit vines so that he could find a new source of energy. Afterwards, he revealed that he just built a time bomb and threatened Batar Jr. and his men that the bomb would go off if he and his men did not leave the laboratory compartment. He had built the bomb in order to get rid of the experiment and the spirit vines so that Kuvira could never use them as a weapon. After Batar Jr. and his men left, Varrick told Bolin that he wasn’t bluffing about the bomb and that he had no way of stopping it from blowing up. Luckily, they were able to escape through a hatch that Bolin had found on the compartment floor before the train compartment exploded, leaving Batar Jr. to believe that Varrick and Bolin were dead.

Back at Zaofu, Kuvira was winning against Korra, as it seemed like Korra was still a little bit weak, and not yet fully recovered. However, she was able to start defeating Kuvira after she went into the Avatar state. However, she was not able to deal the final blow, as she suddenly saw her old self in Kuvira. This allowed Kuvira to defeat Korra and to trap her in an earth mound. But before she could deliver the fatal blow, Opal and Jinora intervened and created and air vortex to protect Korra and to delay Kuvira’s army from entering Zaofu. Jinora then projected her spirit to Ikki and Meelo for help, and they came with Pepper, their sky bison. They were then able to get Korra and Opal to safety and flew back to Air Temple Island.

After Kuvira and her forces entered Zaofu, she forced everyone to surrender and to bow down to her as they were being threatened with the prospect of being thrown into prison. However, much to Baatar Jr.’s chagrin, his father and other brother refused to bow down to Kuvira. Because of this, they were also thrown intp prison.

Baatar Jr. then told Kuvira about what had happened to Varrick, Bolin and the spirit vine project. He also told her that he could probably replicate the project, with Zhu Li as his assistant, to build the “greatest weapon the world has ever seen.” Kuvira then gave the order to start “dismantling the domes” of Zaofu.

And that was all for the recap of “The Legend of Korra” Season 4 Episode 6 “The Battle of Zaofu.” For more news and updates on “The Legend of Korra” and other television shows, keep following Movie News Guide (MNG).
